First I will tell you about the good. On May 8th I went to Placerville to help a friend of mines father with his dirt late model and ended up driving it. I started 16th and finished 5th in a car I had never been in, at a track I have never driven.
Now I will tell you about the bad. We towed the Legend all the way to Ukiah. This is a strange racetrack. You don't only go around in a circle but the track also changes elevation. Kinda like driving a road coarse in a circle.
We qualified 6th and finished 4th in our heat race. By the time we rolled out for the main event the track had cooled off considerable. In fact it was down right cold. We started in 9th position. The guys up front had trouble keeping it together and started a big wreck. I managed to get through it with out damaging the car too bad, nothing more then a bent front bumper but we had to go to the back of the pack. On the restart we got through traffic pretty good and was running in 4th place when the car behind me made a move to go under me and hooked my rear bumper causing me to hit the wall backwards. He also hit the wall and then me again as he came to a stop, just a racing wreck. The tow trucks came and took us all back to the pits where we assessed the damage and put them on the trailers for the long haul home.
And now for the ugly. These are a few of the pictures taken in the driveway after we got the car unloaded and took off everything that was bent or broken.
