After doing a memorial lap for Uncle Jimmy, Samantha went to the infield with David's car and I went to the pits to prepare for the first heat. After checking my line up for the starting position I formulated my plan for the first few laps in my head. I figured if Jack Humphrey, in the 49 car, could out pull the 80 car on the outside I figured that I could do well in this heat. We took the green flag and everything went as I'd hoped. I managed to put it into the lead coming off of turn two in the second lap. I held the lead until the sixth lap when the 52 car got me on the inside. I held onto second until the final lap and was beat by a bumper's width by Frankie Winchel in the 14 car. This made me pretty happy because they were the two fastest qualifier of the night (we qualified 6th).
We started the main event from 9th position. I followed Richard Appleby, the people that we bought this car from. By the second lap we were fourth. We stayed there until lap 22 when the two leaders got together and we took the yellow flag running second. On the restart, we lost four positions and gained one back when the 0 car bounced it off the wall. We ran on the outside of Jason Fensler in the 75 car, an ex-modified champion, for five laps. Coming to the white flag, I started to lap the 98 car for the third time on the outside when he moved over and we hit. I managed to keep it out of the wall and I saw Fensler go by and we finished the race in 6th place with very little damage to the car. As I pulled into the tech area to get inspected, my dad handed me a radio and headset and told me to spot for Jerry Crawford in the Late Model race that was on the track right then and him and mom would get the car through tech. After the Late Model race we loaded the car and went back to the infield to help with the Pure Stocks.
When I got back to the pits after working on the crew of for the Pure Stock race there was a line of people waiting for my autograph. I gave away 50 autographed pictures in the span of 15 minutes and maybe picked up a sponsor for a new motor (fingers are crossed).
