A Real Racing Family

My mother and I went to Lakeport Speedway to race with the Legends of the Pacific this weekend leaving my dad home to work with some of the other race cars that are associated with Clement Racing at 99 Speedway.  My crew chief/mother is a former Late Model Driver at 99 Speedway in the early eighties.

Arriving at Lakeport Speedway after a three and half-hour tow we unloaded the car set up our pits and ran our first set hot laps. The car was lose and really out of the ballpark for this racetrack. After making some adjustments and a few more practice laps we got the to handling more to my liking.

After qualifying we went out for our heat race I started third and took the lead on the second lap and held it until the white flag when I got passed by the 52 car. After finishing second in the heat we were feeling real competitive I decided to call dad at 99 speedway and let him know how we were doing.

In the main event I started third row on the inside and ran in that position for a long time waiting to make my move finally I got an opening and moved in to third I ran there until a yellow flag. On the restart three cars got by me sending me back to sixth lap after lap I chased the fifth place car, a veteran of many years in this division and a real hard man to pass. On the last lap the 52 car spun while going for the lead this is when I made my move around the outside I had the little car wound up tight when I slid in to forth place with the checkered flag flying

After we got through tech I couldn't wait to call dad and Chuck Carman my car owner at 99 Speedway and let them know how we had done. After that we loaded up and started the long tow home.

My Fathers Dream

Isn't it every dad's dream to watch his daughter grow up and become a tire changer on a NASCAR race team?
