My First Race with the Legends of the Pacific

We arrived at the track early Saturday morning to find that some of the legends were already there and had their pits already setup. We pulled in and set our pits up between two of the Master Legend Drivers. I figured that if we needed help it would probably come best from them. We took the first set of hot laps the car was pushing like a freight train on a dirt road so I brought the car in, talked it over with my crew and decided to make some major changes. We raised the air pressure and put two full turns in the right rear. This made the car handle much better so I told my crew to do it again before I went out for the 3rd and final hot lap session.

While we were getting ready to qualify I though that it would be a good idea if we loosened the car up a bit more, so I had the crew take two turns out of the left rear. This worked out well and I qualified 10th but didn’t matter much because of my rookie status I have to start all of my races in the back for the next 4 to 5 weeks.

I rolled out for my heat race and took my spot in the back making sure my belts were tight, checking the gauges, and keeping my eyes on the flagman. The green flag flew and we were off, I immediately made a couple of good passes and was getting the feel of the car when a couple of the cars got together on the back stretch causing a yellow. After restarting again I was moving through the pack well and had just pulled into 3rd place when the leaders got together going into turn one, I ducked low and got the lead then came around to the checkered flag. That is how I won my very first race with the Legends of the Pacific.

After all the celebrations and high fives we got down to preparing the car for the main event. After checking everything that could be check, we rolled onto the track and took our position in the back with the other rookies. As we took the green flag and went into the turn, I made a real good move and passed two cars on the outside. Settling into a comfortable place near middle of the pack, I waited for the tire temperatures to come up, knowing this would help the car go into the corners better. I rode there for about six laps. With the tires hot and sticky and my car handling perfectly. I started to move up through the pack making the kind of moves you dream about. By the 12th lap I had just moved into third when the yellow waved. On the restart I missed a shift costing me four positions as I fell back to 7th. I rode along there for a while until the tires came back up to temperature. I then started to make my move back to the front. Taking on one car at a time, I managed to get back to fourth before the end of the race.

"Not bad for a rookie in his first main event with the legends."
