Lakeport
Off to our 1st race of the season, since the rain has postponed four races already. We
were well prepared as we took as many parts and as much food soda as the trucks would
hold.
With
a pit stop in Lodi for fuel, we were quickly on the road. Fearless Fred led the way, as I
fallowed, good friend and pitman Dave Sullivan along with Dave Clement pulling
Pattys car brought up the rear. Ted and
Keith were running late said they would catch us on the road. It was an uneventful drive
up to the track but we kept our selves amused by talking on our Nextel phones to each
other about how fast we were going to be. We made another pit stop for the girls, while
resting and stretching Ted and Keith passed us, we never saw them again until we arrived
in Lakeport, they were stopped for gas.
After
unloading, going through tech inspections and looking at the track for the first time, I
was ready for practice. We were to be the
first out to practice so we strapped in the cars put some heat in the engines and waited
for the call.
Then
it started to sprinkle so we sat in our cars and waited for it to quit. But it didnt
stop it just got harder so I called for a car cover and decided to wait it out. I knew we were in trouble when I saw Keith climb
out of his racecar, because no body wants to race more than Keith.
While
waiting for track officials to make the decision we all new was coming, we decided to load
the cars and get ready for the long tow home, made even longer by the frustration of not
even getting to make a single lap.
Hope
to see everyone in two weeks when we go to Madera on may 6th, I just heard that
Alan Yordy our fuel sponsor for many years will be in the pits on that day I sure hope we
can show him a great race with some good finishes.
